12" EP from Velvet Underground collaborator Nico featuring 4 songs recorded for a John Peel session.
The singer, model, actress and Andy Warhol Superstar Nico (Christa Päffgen) had contributed to the first Velvet Underground record before recording a series of four highly acclaimed albums for Elektra, Reprise and Island between the years 1967-74.
This four track vinyl EP was the first of two sessions for John Peel (the second was in 1974), and was recorded live for BBC Radio One’s Top Gear on 2nd February 1971 and broadcast the following week. The songs she chose to perform were taken from her solo albums mentioned above, and were previously only available as a vinyl release on John Peel’s and Clive Selwood’s Strange Fruit label during a brief period in 1988.
